Here is the film poster for my film!
Please click on the poster for the best quality!!
Hopefully this poster will entice people to come and see the film!! (as well as my teaser trailer of course)- I'll update another post with people's opinions of my poster, however in this poster, I'm going to explain how I made it!!
MAKING THE POSTER
FIRST! I had to take pictures of the pictures I wanted to compile together, all the pictures except the falling clocks (the main clock is mine) were taken by me!
Here is a few examples of the pictures that were taken orignally:
This is a picture of my eye.
This is a picture I took of my sisters eye.
This is a picture of a clock that I own that I have used for the centre of the poster, also, it is an iconic image as you see it in the trailer too.
SECONDLY: I used a program called Adobe Photoshop CS2 for my photo editing, this meant that I could work on all the different parts of my poster individually, which is key, because it meant if I made a mistake, I could delete a layer instead of the whole image.
THIRDLY:I started to join the different images together to make one face, with the old clock being in the foreground to show it's importance in the film. I then added the masks and all the clocks around the centre image.
FOURTHLY: I added the logo, the title and the small text at the bottom of the screen.
There wasn't much to making the poster as a lot of the actions were similar in making the poster, however it was a time consuming, but hopefully it was worth it!!
And Ta-da we're done!!!
Meaning behind the poster
The reason I have chosen to have lots of different images to compile a face together is because I have no fixed main character and instead multiple amount of characters of an equal significance, therefore the main person image on the front is representing all the characters that would be in the film e.g. there are different eyes, hair, different hands etc.I also decided not to blend the eyes and the nose, as I wanted to symbolise they are actually different characters, otherwise it might of looked too similar.
The centre image in the poster is the old looking clock, I thought that this needed to be highlighted as it would future a lot during the actual film and is infact the first thing you see in my teaser trailer following the company logo. Also, obviously there s a clear theme in this poster which is clocks.
There are numourous of clocks that seem to be falling around the centre image, I thought this was a nice touch as it's getting across my point that clocks are heavily related but also it fills up the space around the centre image too.
I've decided to have the logo in the top right corner, because of what the logo orignally looked like, it blends in the gradient background on the poster.
There are two masks on the poster, that belong to Tick and Tock, I thought it was better to have the masks instead of the actual characters because it blends into the poster more, however, I am thinking of having the actual people/characters for the Film Magazine.
The title I've decided to make it green to follow the convention colours of Sci-Fi....not much really to say here, just double layered the text to make the title stand out more, also I put next to the title the age restriction- 12A
Last, but not least, I have the small text at the bottom, I've also decided to put this in green text, except the date of release which is in white and bold, and also a different text, so it stands out more. The text features the maker of the film, music, a few of the actors, the company and the website.
Here is what I rough image of what I wanted my poster to be like, I hope that it looks similiar to want I want and better!!
That is all folks!

AKIRA: Film/Trailer Study
AKIRA is one of the most renowned anime films that has clear Sci-Fi elements, made in the 1980's. Scenes from AKIRA have even been recreated in the music video of Stronger by Kayne West. AKIRA is now having an American Live action film being made for 2013! However, many fans of AKIRA are very sceptical about the live action film, as a lot of them think it will become too 'americanised', here is an example of someone's (comical) perception of what the film is going to be like:
Brief Summary of the film:
The film is set at a time called Neo-Tokyo, and is based around a group of teenage boys in a biker gang. The two main characters Kaneda and Tetsuo become involved in a secret goverment project, the film is about their struggles on their friendship as Tetsuo goes through the phases of madness as they try to find out, what really is AKIRA?
Analysing the trailer without sound Since this is an old film, this was the best quality trailer I could find, which was made for the bluray rerelease.
The trailer starts off with an establishing shot of a city with lots of skyscrapers,
then two quick flashes of shops/places with holograms as signs. Next we see a close up on someone's hands on a motorbike, accelerating, quick close up on the bikes wheel, with sparks flying, then a medium close shot, of a boy on a red bike, we can already presume this is a main character of the film as he speeds off, with others following, showing that he is the leader. Pan up, close up on motorcyclist,
halting to a sudden stop. Little blue boy, walking across the road, spotlight comes onto him, looks like he's going to get hit. A shot from behind the blue, to confirm that something is coming towards him.
Screaming motorcyclist, close up on blue boy's hand, says the number 26, this could possibly be important later on. Suddenly a giant explosion as the boy on motorbike runs into the blue boy.
Bright flash of light. Boy in some sort of medical machine, close up on a man of authority and a scientist. Running girl in water, spotlight on her, clearly not innocent. Horrifying image of a bear with liquid coming out of his eyes and body.
Boy gone mad, holding his head. Two quick cuts, shots of a religious protest possibly, maybe a cult. Boy shooting towards camera, fallen? First time we see a blue girl, lying in a bed. Tracking POV shot running through a corridor. The boy is hospitalised, we can assume he's also a main character, crashing/destroying the corridor.
Soldiers being destroyed, another shot of boy gone mad, attacks 3 blue people.
A guy on a flying machine picks up girl, the same guy as earlier on the motorbike at the beginning of the film. Mad boy rises up from fire, it's quite clear he's gone mad now, turns to look at camera. Tank. Military aiming at boy, boy produces a forcefield,
deflecting the lasers- lasers showing we're clearly in the future. Destroyed bridge, Tank destroyed, Soldiers Destroyed. Big machine starting to work,
who was once before powerful, boy is acting scared. Blown up bridge, close up on evil boy,
Motorbike boy from beginning jumping up shooting laser at evil boy. New character introduced to the trailer, riding a motorbike, we can therefore presume he's in the gang with the leader. Boy look, girl scared. Evil boy getting shot with laser, lots of quick cuts. Boy with laser aiming,
shoots the camera. AKIRA comes up as the title.
